On Saturday, 11th April 2026, the EAGA Gospel Choir had the honour of ministering at the Humility, Kindness, and Love (HLK) Conference. The conference is a global movement that spans over 67 countries, drawing tens of thousands to events in Italy, Canada, Australia, and India. Their mission is to promote values that encourage unity, compassion, and personal growth.
This year, the UK had the privilege of holding the 6th conference at the Telford International Centre. With over 3,000 expected to attend, the free event featured key speakers such as boxers Frank Bruno and Joe Egan, as well as spiritual Sikh leader Baba Ji.
Our hosts welcomed us warmly and led us to the front seats as we passed the crowd of thousands. After Sir Edward Tate, Deputy Lieutenant of Shropshire, gave a short introductory speech, the choir took the stage.
We first sang "Oh Happy Day", and straightaway there was a change in the atmosphere. The faces of the audience lit up, and it didn't take long for many to join in with singing, standing on their feet, and dancing. After we finished the song, Joe Eagan couldn't contain his joy, stood on his feet, and shouted "Hallelujah" several times from the bottom of his heart. We likewise responded with "Hallelujah", having experienced ourselves the power of praise bringing forth such joy.
We then continued to sing "Shackles" as the audience carried on to dance and clap their hands - it was very obvious that shackles were indeed broken as there was such a free spirit in the venue. However, no one could imagine what would follow after! Before our last song, Pastor Samuel introduced the song "Wahamba Nathi", which is about Jesus, who is the expression of humility, love and kindness. He then invited the audience to come to the front , where he would teach them African dance moves. Without hesitation, dozens of people hurried to the front of the stage, filling up the whole aisle. It was evident that they wanted more and were ready to party at 11 am in the morning!
As we sang our vibrant, energetic song, the line of dancers eagerly followed the Pastor's every move as people continued to join during the song.
It was such a beauty to behold such diversity of people coming together in unity with dance and joy - young and old, different ethnicities, faiths, and cultures. The song ended, audience erupted in applause, with one of the speakers noting later -”Can you feel the energy change? Wasn't that just a wonderful, wonderful performance".
It was a day to surely remember!
